I’ve done link round ups in the past, and am now toying with the idea of a single weekly entry for that purpose if I find enough interesting information to justify a posting. Friday seems like as good a day as any, so without further ado… Random Tech-Bits Link Roundup #2:
- Russian firm cracks WPA/WPA2 encryption with NVidia graphics cards. “decryption …. has been on the theoretical possibilities horizon for some time – and presumably employed by relevant government agencies in extreme situations – but the use of the latest NVidia cards to speedup decryption on a standard PC is extremely worrying“
- Interested in trying out Windows Home Server? Microsoft will ship you a free 120 day eval kit.
- The World Bank uncovers at least half a dozen major intrusions into their network over the past year. “sources inside the bank confirm that servers in the institution’s highly-restricted treasury unit were deeply penetrated with spy software last April. Invaders also had full access to the rest of the bank’s network for nearly a month in June and July“
- Clickjacking attack details as bad as feared. “Adobe Systems Inc. warned users Tuesday that hackers could use recently reported “clickjacking” attack tactics to secretly turn on a computer’s microphone and Web camera“
- Cisco VPN software CD’s shipped with Mexican drug-runner music instead.
- HTC announces via Twitter that Touch HD will not be released in the U.S. (I really wanted that phone).
